Interviews with Gobind Sadan guests

Over the past two years Fateh Singh Kalha, a young scholar from the Gobind Sadan community, has been conducting interviews with some of our visitors from overseas. His motivation was his fascination by the field of theology. He created a podcast, Mens et Manus, to interview people of different faiths and backgrounds, discuss related questions, and understand the power of faith and belief. Some of them also spoke of their experiences at Gobind Sadan.

Fateh Kalha with two of his interviewees for Mens et Mannus at Gobind Sadan.

Ulrika from Sweden:

She came to Gobind Sadan through the recommendation of her yoga teacher Henry Ahlefelder. When Henry visited Maharaji he said that he had never experienced anything like that before– the greatest love of all.  Then Maharaj was still in his body, so he got to meet him. It was such a beautiful experience for him. He went back and shared it with everyone, and eventually Ulrika came here as well.

Ulrika recounts an incident where she had something like a lump on her throat growing. It was not known what it was, and it had been growing for a year. She even fixed a time for surgery to get it removed, but then she went down to the central Havan, and after using the holy ash and oil after just one week the lump started to go, and then disappeared completely. Ulrika describes this as a medical miracle.

Ulrika also attributes getting Naam at Gobind Sadan in helping her get rid of anxiousness and nervousness.

Irina from Vladivostok Russia:

Irina came to India as a part of a congress, under Valentin Sidorov. He had  organized the Congress of Spiritual Concord in Russia. He met Father Paulos Mar Gregorios there, who suggested that they go to Baba Virsa Singh ji. He told them,  “If he blesses you, consider yourself to be blessed by God himself.”  And that is how she met Baba Virsa Singh ji. The organization also organized Maharaji’s visit to Moscow.

She recounts an anecdote that Babaji said that the best way to help somebody is not necessarily by giving money or giving clothes, but, for example, helping somebody find a job.

Henry from the United States of America:

Henry met someone who practiced meditation and that’s where he first heard of Baba Virsa Singh. He became almost obsessed with having to meet Baba Virsa Singh. In 2007 when Baba Virsa Singh was still here and alive in body, he met him and spent time here and received Naam from him. Afterwards, Mary Pat Fisher told him, “We could tell Baba Virsa Singh brought you here for a reason.”

Henry mentions that he was once talking to the imam of the mosque at Gobind Sadan and asked what message of Islam, what message of the prophet could he bring back to talk to Western people about? The Imam said, ”Love each other. If we can’t love each other, none of our religions are worth anything.”

Henry recounts that when he first met Baba Virsa Singh he just sat with him on the patio outside but he was immediately overwhelmed with the feeling that Baba Virsa Singh loved him more than even his grandparents loved him. He felt Baba Virsa Singh in every one of his molecules. Henry said he felt like he was in the center of the universe, and it’s all made of love. “Every time you’re with Baba Virsa Singh or you’re in his presence or even someplace he’s been, if he’s in the room, it’s like the fan is on, but the breeze is made of love. And it’s everywhere. There’s no doubt in your mind now. You meditate with him and he takes your mind and shows you these amazing things.”

"God will give power to those who have love in their hearts, and a sweet tongue. A person who speaks of peace but has sword in hand—That Water will inevitably come to wash him away."

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

The university is one. The Vice Chancellor is one. How can the teaching be different, though in different languages?

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

Our mind is sick and weak, but we are looking for cures for the body.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

That seed which you sow in the early morning will keep bearing fruit.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

The first way that Guru Gobind Singh described the Khalsa was that they were those who had renounced anger.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

All the prophets have come from the same Light.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

What is the essence of religion? Truthfulness, love, faith in God, and service to everyone.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

Early in the morning, go deep inside, concentrating all your awareness on God. Then the whole day your mind will be focused on God. Nothing will bother you.

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

“Keep growing in love for your Master. Do not look to this side or that or even at the path ahead, because people will always be criticizing you.”

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

“Trees do not wear crosses, but the great spiritual beings see God in trees. Water has no symbols, but Guru Gobind Singh says, ‘My God is in water.”

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

"We do spiritual practices to gradually prepare the way for enlightenment. It does not come immediately."

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

"Management does not change things. It is God who changes people."

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

Baba Virsa Singh Ji

"If we keep faith and love in difficulties, and pray for those who abuse us, we will always remain happy & free."

Baba Virsa Singh Ji
