BABA SIRI CHAND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
This year Baba Siri Chand’s birthday was celebrated with great fervor and love in many Gobind Sadan locations. In our central community in Delhi, sevadars and staff worked for many days to repair, clean, and set up a lovely environment for honouring the revered elder son of Guru Nanak, for he is our Teacher’s Teacher. The loving celebrations included daily recitation of “Dhan, Dhan Baba Siri Chand Sahib” by the sangat at the central havan, kirtan, special havan at Angeetha Sahib, seven Akhand Paaths, delicious langar, and Akhand Paath Bhog with kirtan and explanation of Baba Siri Chand’s strong connection with the lineage of Sikh Gurus.
A similar wonderful programme was held in Gobind Sadan’s Gurdwara Nanak Sagar in Sector 39, Chandigarh, enlivened by the presence of Dhadi jatha Fouja Singh Faqir from Ludhiana and Giani Jung Singh Missal Shahidan Taruna Dal. Many sangat also gathered in Sarawan Bodla, Maharaj ji’s childhood home, for kirtan, Jaap Sahib, langar, seva, and special lighting and flower decorations. And outside London, Maharaj ji’s new UK sangat held their first celebration of Baba Siri Chand’s birthday at the home of Jagtar Singh, with havan, Jaap Sahib, kirtan, explanation of Baba Siri Chand’s historical importance, and Maharaj ji’s 1989 videotaped talk about Baba Siri Chand Ji. The new sangat were delighted to learn the truth about Baba Siri Chand, and said the celebration was “divine”!
