BABA SIRI CHAND’S BIRTHDAY 2022 CELEBRATED HAPPILY BY SANGAT
After several years of curtailed celebrations because of COVID virus, the sangat finally met again for a proper celebration of Baba Siri Chand’s birthday at Gobind Sadan. From 3 to 5 September, large numbers of devotees from near and far gathered at Gobind Sadan to carry on 7 Akhand Paaths, sing His praises, conduct special havan, give talks about Baba Siri Chand, pray in the dera and at Jesus’ Place, do seva, admire beautiful flower and lighting decorations, and prepare and enjoy delicious langar. The atmosphere was very peaceful and the weather pleasant, contributing to the positive energy. Everyone left with conviction that Maharaj’s mission is solid, continuing, and growing.
The report by Brahmjit Singh about the archival activities being carried on by Gobind Sadan Institute for Advanced Studies in Comparative Religion was one indication of this positive growth. He reported that most of Maharaj ji’s approximately 30,000 photos, plus videos, audios, newspaper and magazine articles, newsletters, letters, press releases, seminar papers, books, etc. have been digitized for their long-term preservation, and some are being shared on the Internet. Many devotees have written books about their experiences with Maharaj ji. Dr. Surjit Kaur Jolly’s great thesis on the Socio-economic Development of Gobind Sadan is under printing by the Indian Council of Historical Research. Old devotees are being approached to tell their stories about experiences with and miracles of Maharaj ji. Gobind Sadan’s library has been renovated and its collection begun by Bhai Kirpal Singh is being re-organized in preparation for research use of the books. There is a great wealth of material now available and preserved as the base for many more efforts to share the great mission of Baba Virsa Singh with the world.
On the same dates as Gobind Sadan Delhi’s celebration, Nanak Sagar Gurdwara in Sector 39, Chandigarh also celebrated Baba Siri Chand’s birthday. Maharaj’s long-time sevadar, the venerable Miss Chand, even came to see the beautiful lighting decorations and praise Baba Siri Chand, who is thought to have spent some time in that holy place.
