BAISAKHI CELEBRATION AND UNIVERSAL DAY OF CULTURE
From 12 to 14 April, 2026, Gobind Sadan celebrated Baisakhi, the great occasion on which Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa. Seven Akhand Paaths, kirtan, havan, and langar were all carried on simultaneously by the sangat. Before departing, Sukhjinder Singh jatha from Golden Temple in Amritsar also offered touching kirtan by and about Guru Gobind Singh in Gurdwara Sarbat Sangat on the hill.
On 15 April, Baba Virsa Singh Ji Maharaj Primary School at Gobind Sadan celebrated the Universal Day of Culture, showcasing regional folk dances and music from Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, as well as classical Mohiniyattam dance from Kerala. The Roerich Banner of Peace and a citation from the Committee of the Banner of Peace in Lithuania were given to Gobind Sadan, “in recognition of its long-standing work in building peace between religions and cultures. May this Banner protect the Gobind Sadan in accordance with the Roerich Pact [signed by many countries in the twentieth century pledging protection of cultural treasures in times of war and peace], and help it spread Peace through Culture, Love and Joy.” In accordance with Baba Virsa Singh Ji’s emphasis on preserving our spiritual and cultural heritage, on the school’s greenboard was written, “Our traditions, art, and values are our true wealth—protect them, respect them, and pass them on.”
