Gobind Sadan
Following His first visit to the U.S., Baba Virsa Singh Ji established Gobind Sadan USA in 1987. He blessed Ralph Singh and Joginder Kaur to locate and purchase the 270 acres of lush farmland in Palermo, 30 miles north of Syracuse, New York. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, devotees came to find peace and healing by connecting their hearts, minds and souls to the Divine. Sangat would congregate every month for Akhand Path and various interfaith celebrations to rejoice in the universal messages of all prophets as taught by Baba Virsa Singh ji. Devotees would travel from afar, arriving on a Thursday to come together in worship, take roles during Akhand Path, perform kirtan, serve langar, do havan and various forms of seva. They would leave on Sunday returning to their homes with their hearts full of love, souls recharged and receiving an abundance of blessings. Due to the current global effects of COVID, the Gobind Sadan USA sangat now meets virtually for weekly and monthly programs.
The weekly program consists of meeting every Friday and Sunday in the evening from 5:30 to 8:30 EST to recite Rehras Sahib, Jaap Sahib, sing Kirtan, perform Ardas and take Hukamnama. Amazingly, Sangat is connecting with families across USA and worldwide – Young Karman Singh from the UK often is the first to do kirtan; singing melodious kirtan with his parents.
Apart from the weekly initiative, the Gobind Sadan USA sangat also performs monthly Akhand Path by taking turns to read SGGS from their homes (taking roles in Akhand Path). By Maharaj ji’s grace, the entire Akhand Path is coordinated and communicated beautifully, done entirely by virtual means and precisely scheduled by the efforts of Suresh Rijhwani and fellow sevaks. Sangat is participating from their homes across the world: Toronto, New York, New Jersey, Texas and all the way to India.
While the sangat may not be able to physically connect, by God’s blessings and their devotion to Maharaj ji, devotees continue to rejoice in His Name and receive His blessings.
